A New Beginning!!!!

This Image is from Nina on her flickr. she has one of the best collections of vintage cards!

~ Happy New Year~ 2010

The song, "Auld Lang Syne," is sung at the stroke of midnight in almost every English-speaking country in the world to bring in the new year. At least partially written by Robert Burns in the 1700's, it was first published in 1796 after Burns' death. Early variations of the song were sung prior to 1700 and inspired Burns to produce the modern rendition. An old Scottish tune, "Auld Lang Syne" literally means "old long ago," or simply, "the good old days".

Auld Lang Syne
Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
And never brought to mind?
Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
And auld lang syne?
For auld lang syne, my dear,
For auld lang syne,
We'll tak a cup of kindness yet,
For auld lang syne!

And there's a hand my trusty fiere,
And gie's a hand o thine,

And we'll tak a right guid-willie waught,
For auld lang syne
For auld lang syne, my dear,
For auld lang syne,
We'll tak a cup of kindness yet,
For auld lang syne!

And on a final note - my free-spirited son walked in the kitchen this afternoon with a shaved head! I gave a big hug and told him I loved him. He has been sporting a blue Mohawk for almost a year now. I asked why he shaved his head and he said It's New Years and I am going to see how long it grows in a year. Since next year is his Senior Year in high school I will be so happy to get great Senior pictures of him. That was a stipulation for him having a blue Mohawk was for him to get rid of it in time to get Senior Pictures.

Deck the Halls

Love this Santa Pick as my tree toppper on one of my pink trees.

Hermey the Dentist with his Spotted Elephant from the Island of the Misfit Toys. Cute!

My handmade stocking given to me from my Great Aunt Florence when I was a baby. The dollie has always been my favorite on this stocking.
She is the only relative that called me "Julie Ann" by my first and middle name. The stocking still has the original ribbons and jingle bells. I did have to finally replace the felt hanger.
The tradition continues....

My favorite picture of my dad and my niece, Lainey who was adopted from China 3 years ago. She is now age 4.

Jingle Bells

Some of my favorite ornaments on the green tree.
My mom bought this ornament for me since we have a train track running right behind our yard. It is so sweet.

Candy Canes..only 5 cents today;)

Thanks for visiting...Merry Christmas

Simple Chenille Tree Garland Tutorial

Not my original idea~
It is from the Family Circle Christmas Treasury Book copyright 1986
Their version was red, white, and silver. Of course, my version is pink, white, and silver!
How simple is it? Cut your chenille stems a.k.a. pipe cleaners in half. Cut the silver pipe cleaners into thirds. Form circles and twist ends around to secure. Use the silver "ring" to attach the pink and white rings together.
Voila...easy peasy.
These would also be great decorations for parties in any color of your choosing. Think of the possibilities and how simple and inexpensive. Literally took me minutes to assemble while watching t.v.

Merry Christmas

It is Christmas in the heart that puts Christmas in the air

I love this image that Elizabeth has shared on flickr.

This year I am struggling with the Christmas in the air. I know I always have Christmas in the heart but I'm not feeling it in the air.

I hope it comes to me soon..only 17 more days and I have not been shopping yet.

I do have my tree up-does that count?
Hurry up Christmas please don't be late!!!

I have eked out a few Christmas decorations for my shop.

Wishing you a season filled with sweetness.

To start this post...the sweetest ornaments of all from Mary. They are just gorgeous. Thank you Mary!

Look at all those sequins and beads.
Beware there are lots of pink pictures coming up!!! Warning~Pink overload!!
Proceed with Caution~ Mary sent me this wreath last year.
I have 3 pink trees. Each one is a different theme. This is my Sweet Tree. All things sweet of course.

These yummy cupcake ornaments were purchased from Renegade Rose last year.

The largest pink tree has silver & pink variegated glass bulbs that I bought from Dollar Tree after Christmas for 50 cents a box. Each box had 6 ornaments. What a deal.

Like this view very much.
And this view too...
Before decorating the trees' pink lights are very pink. I might switch to white lights next year.
The smallest pink tree is adorned with vintage ornaments. Most of them are wooden.

See The circus wagon at the bottom? I was going to make something creative with it..but I've changed my mind.

The best thing of all~~~ My mom bought these trees for me after Christmas last year and they were almost giving them away!!! I found these tags in the box after opening it today. I tossed the tags back in the empty box. I love a great deal!

I will be posting more pictures over the next few days ~ visit again soon.
Happy Holidays
