Time to catch up...really catch up

Runners just do it - they run for the finish line even if someone else has reached it first. ~Author Unknown

"In running, it doesn't matter whether you come in first, in the middle of the pack, or last. You can say 'I have finished.' There is a lot of satisfaction in that."

I did it! Finished the first 5k of the season. Hope to get a few more under my belt before winter. There was a killer hill...It was perfect weather and looking forward to improving my pace. I am fairly new to running. I started last winter. I went from couch potato to running. I have not ran since Freshman gym class and that was forced exercise! I am proud of how far I have come even though I am extremely hard on myself after the race. The fact is I have to remember that I am almost 45 years old and I DID IT! My pace ---11:37 min/miles and I finished just at 36 minutes.

I have made some new friends along the way. It is great having someone else to push or pull you through when you think you cannot move another inch. A good ole kick in the pants once in awhile doesn't hurt to get you motivated either.

On another note..hubby put up my small raised garden on Sunday. Still haven't planted my 3 tomato plants yet. Waiting for Mr. Sunshine to show his face first.

Looks like some critter was sifting through the seeds to find all the good ones.

Isn't this the prettiest shade of pink? I cannot wait for them to fill in.
Knock...Knock...Knock

If you were a regular visitor at our house this would greet you as you enter through the garage.

This is a true statement...Wouldn't you think twice before entering?
You guessed it-Dear Hubby decorates the garage!

Thanks for stopping by and have a great week,

Flowers in my Garden

A stenciled bushel basket full of juicy red apples. This has been stenciled on my kitchen wall for 8-9 years. Contemplating on a change. Might paint over it, but have some doubts. I made the stencil myself and painted it. I was quite proud of myself at the time, as I am not that great of an artist or painter!

Some random pictures of my flower garden. Still waiting for it to "fill in". Usually by Mid July it is over growing and I have to weed some out.
The Dianthus are always my favorite because most of the time they return the next year and they don't spread all over the place like most perennials. Also, the dianthus have such pretty colors like raspberry and strawberry parfait. Who can resist with names like those. It's like a Cherry on TOP;)

Have a great weekend,

My First Official Blog

My first post in the "Blog World" and I have alot to learn;)
Happy Mother's Day to all of you wonderful ladies!!!

Mother's Day is not until tomorrow, but today is such a beautiful day here I have decided to celebrate it in the moment! Tomorrow's weather is supposed to be cloudy, rainy, and a high temperature of 53 degrees! My daughter bought me 3 perennials and has given them to me today so I have planted them in the warmth of the sunshine. Hubby and son went to Target and purchased me a memory stick for my new digital camera and gave it to me today. We purchased a Sony Digital camera a few weeks ago and thought all cameras took the same kind of memory card...Doh. To my dismay my camera only stored 10 pictures without the memory stick.

I mowed half of our 4 acres today and let hubby finish the rest and he also used the lawn sweeper.

It is peaceful right now. Son went to guitar lessons at his buddy's house, Daughter had to take a final for college and move her dorm stuff back. ( she is finishing her last semester up this fall and will be commuting!) and hubby is still doing "outside" chores.

What shall a girl do with a Saturday afternoon?????
Still dishes and laundry to do, watch my niece's softball game, or sit and enjoy the peace!
Better call and see what time the game is ...
