The Plastic Lampshade in the room
Today I coax him to eat, drink, and rest. He requires many treats to allow me to ice the 2 stitched areas. The hernia incision is 4 inches in length :(
Two weeks of looking at the plastic lampshade in the living room and then he will be brand new, happier Kane. I promise Kane. I really do.
13 days and you will be happily licking your chops, running, playing, and scratching your own ears;)

Dining Table and Hutch before and after pictures
After...
Here you can see my 2 favorite children in the whole entire world!
Still haven't re-upholstered the chairs. What do you think of the striped fabric? I chose it to match coffee colored walls and island blue table pictured below.
My statement piece...
TA Daaaaaaa! I used the same technique as I did on the island blue table. In addition I made it chippy with a razor blade knife and a bit of sand paper. That was the fun part. You can find the instructions here.

Furniture Facelift
Five Dollars at local Church Resale Shop...
Plastic drawer fronts and gum was included as an extra bonus - Gross!
I liked the French Provincial 70's era look to the night stand.
This night stand became my spring break project.
Zinsser odorless oil based primer is a lifesaver. No sanding...repeat...no sanding. This was necessary to use to get the paint to stick to the plastic drawer fronts.
Corrugated cardboard used for shelves between the drawers..really???
I chose Island Infinity as the base coat color. The store clerk insisted I use flat latex wall paint since I was going to do a treatment over it anyway. It was cheaper.
I thought I still had some leftover glaze from painting my dining room set, but I must have been mistaken. I couldn't find it anywhere.
I was in such a hurry to see the end product that I just used black acrylic craft paint in some water and did a black wash over the piece. I immediately wiped it with a wet rag to get desired aging effect.
I then applied 2 coats of wipe-on poly varnish. That stuff is amazingly easy to use. I used an old t-shirt to apply first coat, waited 3 hours and then applied the second coat. TA DAaaa!
It looks so much better now. I am loving it. I have a picture frame, shelf, and magazine rack that is going to get the same treatment.
My sister and a friend suggested that I leave the handles as they were. They just got a good scrubbing. It is cool how the original golden paint is settled in the cracks and crevices of the handles.
And I finally got a new patio. Pictures to come soon.

Face It
Took this photo with my phone on our fast-paced Sunday walk.
I love our Sunday walks...they are invigorating and the girls get to dish.
Face it: girls need to dish.
Face it: a girl needs her exercise.
Face it: Life is a Journey...
Doesn't it remind you of Oscar the Grouch?
Face it: It is illegal to steal rocks from someone's yard.
I am tempted to knock on the front door and ask if it is for sale.
Face it: That makes me sound like a crazy girl.
I would love to put this "face it" rock in my garden to welcome visitors may they be grumpy or happy. It would be sure to make them smile.
Did you know I have a "Face It" board on Pinterest.
Face it: I do ;)
Did you know I have a "Rock It" board on Pinterest.
Face it: I do.
Face it: I'm addicted to Pinterest.

Pain in the Neck
On the other hand, I will be terribly upset if this neck pain doesn't subside by tomorrow.
Ibuprofen, water, heating pad, and ice pack are my best friends today.
Hope you're having a fabulous day,
Julie
