Sweet, Sugary Easter ~ Shop is filling up.

In the process of adding Easter Pom Pom Peeps and Glitter Cottages to my shop.
Although the calendar says Spring, the thermometer does not. It is a balmy 35* F today. That felt warm to me. That is ridiculous to say out loud!!! Spring warmth cannot come soon enough to Northwest Indiana. I love me some Sunshine!

Come visit me ~ Happy Spring :)

Furniture Facelift

Five Dollars at local Church Resale Shop...

Plastic drawer fronts and gum was included as an extra bonus - Gross!

I liked the French Provincial 70's era look to the night stand.
This night stand became my spring break project.

Zinsser odorless oil based primer is a lifesaver. No sanding...repeat...no sanding. This was necessary to use to get the paint to stick to the plastic drawer fronts.

Corrugated cardboard used for shelves between the drawers..really???

I chose Island Infinity as the base coat color. The store clerk insisted I use flat latex wall paint since I was going to do a treatment over it anyway. It was cheaper.

I thought I still had some leftover glaze from painting my dining room set, but I must have been mistaken. I couldn't find it anywhere.

I was in such a hurry to see the end product that I just used black acrylic craft paint in some water and did a black wash over the piece. I immediately wiped it with a wet rag to get desired aging effect.
I then applied 2 coats of wipe-on poly varnish. That stuff is amazingly easy to use. I used an old t-shirt to apply first coat, waited 3 hours and then applied the second coat. TA DAaaa!

It looks so much better now. I am loving it. I have a picture frame, shelf, and magazine rack that is going to get the same treatment.

My sister and a friend suggested that I leave the handles as they were. They just got a good scrubbing. It is cool how the original golden paint is settled in the cracks and crevices of the handles.

And I finally got a new patio. Pictures to come soon.

Glitter-fied

You cannot do any better for a gift that is crafty, thrifty, and glittery all in one.
From humble beginnings glittery things can be made.

Crafted these for the all "girls" in my family. Yes, they are made from small treat boxes left from my bosses' Christmas gift basket. I saved them from the horrible landfill.

Used my favorite color combination of aqua, pink, and white.

You did know that picket fences always make for a good neighbor?
It does!
Not that I have bad neighbors or a picket fence;)

They are so sugary sweet I could just bite one.

Never mind me saving the world one box at a time.
Look out people, I have glitter....

Pastel Doily Garland

Sassy Sanctuary
is where I saw this Pastel Doily Valentine Garland...Easy Peasy. I had all the materials so I whipped one up in under an hour!!

All this prettiness while I was watching the Super Bowl...I can multitask! I added beads in between my hearts on this one:

This is my garland. Taking one to work to decorate my office window and the other one is going to a friend.

The Blizzard of 2011 is now behind us. I have been off work for a entire week. Two days for sick days and the other 3 for Blizzard days.

The drift in front of the house is about 3.5 feet tall. I'm not sure when we will see our front sidewalk again...our snow blower broke doing the driveway.

Have a great and warm week,

Peeking In

Kane observing nature through the patio door and feeling the warmth of the furnace.
This is his morning spot.

A surprise package from Mary. She makes the best vintage beaded ornaments. Love it. Last year she made me gorgeous pink beaded ornaments.

Some pink love birds ready for Valentine's Day listing in my shop.
Yes, I will wait until after Christmas to list them!

Now to the recently cleaned up and half way organized craft studio! LOL since I have taken these pictures I have already changed some things up. I'll post them again another day. I found 3 baby planters from the 80's and am using them for storage.

My sister bought this Album at the local church thrift shop for me. She loves me!

Greenbeanbaby purchase from a year or so ago is the framed picture of her cut paper piecing.

Flossie the framed picture in the upper right hand corner was purchased from Jenny at EverydayisaHoliday last year. Love, Love, Love! My inspiration board is getting full!

Not the best picture with the sun streaming in but you can see all my glass containers. They are filled with beautiful beads, flowers, and other goodies!

The 'messiest' storage in the room. I keep all of my chipboard in these roll out bins. The sewing machine is in the bottom bin. That hasn't gotten a lot of use. I prefer to work with paper, yarn, glitter, and glue.
Some yarn, some felt, and hiding some rolls of corrugated cardboard beside the cabinet.

Pretty pinks and reds displayed above the cabinet.

A cupcake plaque purchased from etsy.

The cabinet doors opened to expose the supplies inside: ribbons, threads, vintage trims, crepe paper, tulle, and a tin full of embroidery threads.

Up close with the pretties in the glass jars!

More prettiness.

The other album my sis purchased for me from the church thrift store. She really, really does love me! Honest.
Some projects yet to be started or finished: A wicked Halloween picture, garland, Christmas yarn ball wreath, a vintage magazine holder.

I cannot wait to see the finished project from these yarn balls. I might add some pink pom poms.

Aqua, Red, and White LOVE! Where's the pink?

I finished up the Christmas wrapping of the gifts tonight.
Need to double check my lists and see if more gifts are needed..Crossing fingers that I am done.

Snow and/or ice tonight.
Be safe and warm.
